Monday January 13, 2020 - Day 1-Depart USA -
Depart home cities for gateway of our overnight flight to Tel Aviv. Dinner and breakfast will be served on board.

Tuesday January 14, 2020 - Day 2 - TEL AVIV - Upon arrival in Tel Aviv you will be greeted by your tour director and driver. We visit Jaffa, the city of Jonah, where Peter had his rooftop experience. Lunch is on our own. We visit St. Peter's church, built on the site believed to be the house of Simon the Tanner, where St. Peter stayed and had his famous dream.  We visit Tabitha's tomb, and enjoy some free time shopping in the colorful market bazaar.  We transfer to our hotel for a Welcome Dinner with wine and overnight in Tel Aviv.

Wednesday January 15, 2020 - Day 3 - TIBERIAS - We depart our hotel for Caesarea Maritime along the Mediterranean and visit the Roman and Crusader remains. We continue to Mt. Carmel, where we visit the site of Elijah's confrontation with the priests of Baal. We drive on to Nazareth. We celebrate Mass at the Church of the Annunciation, and visit the Church of St. Joseph next door, and Mary's Well at St. George's church. We visit the new International Center for Mary at Nazareth and learn about what life was like for the Holy Family.  We visit the archaeological site to see the remains of Nazareth from the time of Jesus. We stop at Mt. Precipice, from where we have a great view of the Jezreel Valley. The angry multitudes wanted to throw Jesus from this mountain after his teaching at the Nazareth Synagogue. Overnight Nazareth. If possible, we’ll visit the convent of the Sisters of Nazareth, and the Tomb of the Righteous Man, believed to be that of Joseph, Jesus' fosterfather. Before moving on to our hotel on the shores of the Galilee for dinner and overnight, we drive to the village of Cana, the site of Jesus' first miracle, where our married couples renew their wedding vows. Check in to hotel for dinner and overnight.

Thursday January 16, 2020 - Day 4 - TIBERIAS - This morning we take a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee to the seaside village of Kibbutz Ginosar to view the historic archaeological discovery of the "Jesus boat".
We explore Magdala, home of St. Mary Magdalene. We taste of St. Peter’s Fish for lunch before departing for Capernaum, where Jesus began His Galilean ministry. Here we explore the synagogue which dates to the time of Christ and see the site of St. Peter’s home. We see the church with a glass floor constructed over the site, allowing us to look down into the excavated ruins of Peter’s house. Next, we visit the Church of the Primacy of Peter, situated on the shore of the Sea of Galilee.   After His resurrection, Jesus met with his disciples and told Peter “feed my lambs; feed my sheep’ (John 21:9). Next, we drive to the Mount of Beatitudes, where we have time for personal meditation in the beautiful gardens followed by Mass.  We visit Tabgha and the Franciscan Church of St. Peter's Primacy, where Jesus made His appearance after the resurrection. Next, we see the Benedictine Basilica of the Loaves and Fishes. We visit Chorazin, one of the 3 cursed cities to view the synagogue and the 'seat of Moses'. Drive to Caesarea Phillipi (Dan) and see the Temple of Pan and the head of the Jordan River, the Banias Spring, where Jesus was recognized as the Messiah by His Disciples. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.

Friday January 17, 2020 Day 5 – TIBERIAS /JERICHO/BETHANY/JERUSALEM –We drive to Mt. Tabor, the site of the Transfiguration. We then drive south through the Jordan Valley visiting Jericho and view the Mount of Temptation. We travel to Bethany and visit the tomb of Lazarus and the Church of Martha and Mary where we celebrate Mass. Finally, we make our thrilling entry into Jerusalem before arriving at our hotel for dinner and overnight. 

Saturday January 18, 2020 - Day 6 – JERUSALEM/BETHLEHEM - Today we drive to Bethlehem, The House of Bread, to visit the Church of the Nativity that commemorates the birth of Christ. We visit the Manger, Crusader's Cloister, and the Grotto of St. Jerome, where we celebrate the Christmas Mass. Finally, we visit the nearby Milk Grotto. We will enjoy an included luncheon at the Bedouin Tent Restaurant and if possible, a folkloric dance as well. Return to Jerusalem where we visit Ein Karem, where John the Baptist was born, and Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth to utter the words of the Magnificat. We visit the Church of St. Ann (Mary’s mother) and the Pool of Bethesda. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.

Sunday January 19, 2020 - Day 7 – JERUSALEM/QUMRAN - This morning we visit the place of the Ascension and the Church of the Pater Noster. We view the beautiful City of Jerusalem from the Mt. of Olives. We then walk down the hill to Dominus Flevit Chapel, where Jesus wept over Jerusalem and on to the Garden of Gethsemane, where we have time for personal prayer and celebrate Mass at the Church of All Nations. We drive along the Kidron Valley stopping at St. Peter in Gallicantu (The Cock Crows), where Jesus was held in the house of the High Priest Caiaphas. We then return to the Judean wilderness first visiting the excavations at Qumran, the home of the Essenes connected with John the Baptist and the Dead Sea Scrolls. On our return to Jerusalem, we pass by the traditional site of the Inn of the Good Samaritan. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.

Monday January 20, 2020 - Day 8 - JERUSALEM – Very early (5 am approx.), we prayerfully walk the Stations of The Cross along the Via Dolorosa concluding with Mass inside the Edicule right over Christ’s tomb at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. We return to the hotel for Breakfast. We visit Pilate’s Judgment Hall, the Chapel of Flagellation, Lithostratos, Arch of Ecce Homo and the Convent of the Sisters of Zion, if available at that time. Later we drive to Mt. Zion to visit the memorial tomb of King David, the Church of Dormition and pray in the Upper Room. We enter the Old City through Zion Gate making our way to the Western (Wailing) Wall. We also see the Cardo and the remains of Hezekiah's wall. We will have some free time in the Old City and then return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Tuesday January 21, 2020 - Day 9 - JERUSALEM/ PETRA - After breakfast we depart for Allenby where we will meet our guide and/or driver, to head to Madaba, where we visit St. George’s Church; and see the mosaic floor map of the Holy Land. We continue to Mt. Nebo, which according to ancient tradition is the mountain from which Moses saw the Promised Land before he died. Mass will be celebrated. We continue to Petra along the Kings Highway, which the Bible records as the route that Moses wished to take as he led the Israelites through the land of Edom, which today is in southern Jordan.  Dinner and overnight at Petra hotel.

Wednesday January 22, 2020 - Day 10 – PETRA/WADI RUM - After early breakfast, drive to the Wadi Rum for one hour of 4 x4 ride in the desert and enjoy its sandstone and granite mountains.   Lawrence of Arabia spent a significant amount of time here during the First World War. This afternoon, we spend time at the wonderful archaeological Rose City of Petra, the awesome city the Nabataean Arabs carved out of the rock during the four hundred years before Roman rule. It could be defended by a handful of men because access was limited to the narrow fissure known as the ‘Siq.’  We travel that same way Indiana Jones entered in search of the Holy Grail in the Stephen Spielberg classic The Last Crusade, where the magnificent “Treasury” dramatically appears at the end of the gorge.  We can walk to, or travel part way, by horseback.  Dinner and overnight at our Dead Sea hotel.

Thursday January 23, 2020 - Day 11 – DEAD SEA/BAPTISM/JERASH/AMMAN - After breakfast, we drive to the site of John the Baptist's settlement at Bethany Beyond the Jordan. This place where Jesus was baptized has long been known from the Bible (John 1:28 and 10:40) and from the Byzantine and medieval texts. We renew our baptismal vows here.  Next, we drive to Amman for a city tour in the morning, and then an included lunch at the Christian family owned Artemis restaurant. Following lunch, we continue to Jerash, one of the ten cities of the Decapolis, and said to be the best-preserved Roman ruins outside of Italy. Dinner tonight is at Kan Zaman restaurant for dinner. Check in to our Amman Hotel.

Friday January 24, 2020 - Day 12 - AMMAN/ TEL AVIV - This morning we visit Church of Jesus Christs Entry Into Temple and then we cross the Israeli border and travel to Abu Gosh, one of the traditional sites of Emmaus, where Jesus appeared on the road on the first Easter Sunday. We celebrate our closing Holy Land Mass here. Afterwards we celebrate our farewell dinner nearby before we head to Ben Gurion Airport for our overnight flight home.

Saturday, January 25, 2020 - Day 13 USA We arrive home with wonderful memories of our visit to the Holy Land, and a new understanding of the people and places where our Lord lived.

ACTIVITY LEVEL 3: This itinerary does include extensive periods of walking, often up and down gravel or packed dirt paths and stairways; standing for some time, and boarding/disembarking a small boat as well as a motorcoach. You must be in good health. Very few portions of this tour are wheelchair accessible; many  areas will be inaccessible to wheelchairs. Be advised that persons using a wheelchair or needing mobility assistance of any kind MUST have a traveling companion to assist, and may not be able to participate in some of the activities included on this tour.
