We greet pilgrims boarding our coach in OKC and Tulsa and head for St. Mary’s Mountain in Altus, AR where we will learn about the Swiss heritage of winemaking at the oldest and largest winery in mid-America, Wiederkehr Wine Cellars. The Wiederkehr family carries on a tradition begun in 1880.  Following a delicious Bavarian lunch, we depart for Subiaco Monastery, driving along the  Mt. Magazine scenic byway. After Mass and a tour of the abbey, we continue on arriving in Little Rock early evening and check in to our riverfront hotel. Dinner tonight is a gala affair where the chef will cook for us at table. (L, D)

Tuesday, September 24
After an early  breakfast at the hotel, we head southeast to the Ave Maria Grotto in Cullman, AL, known as “Jerusalem in Miniature” .  Its 4-acre park in an old quarry on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey is home to 125 miniature replicas of various shrines from around the world created by a Benedictine monk in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We will enjoy Mass, lunch, and a guided tour of the abbey church and the sculpture gardens before heading for Birmingham’s famousVulcan Park. Following our visit, we check in to our hotel where we are greeted by a catered dinner. Father Brashears and Deacon Larry will give a short presentation on how Oklahoma Catholic Radio came about and why it is vital to the church. Then it’s off to the original Whistle Stop made famous by the novel and film Fried Green Tomatoes written by Irondale native Fannie Flagg . After an included lunch, we return to EWTN for a guided tour of the studio. We’ll have time to visit the gift shop, and explore the grounds where Mother Angelica spent much of her time, and to pray in the adoration chapel. We’ll enjoy a simple catered meal here together and then be present at EWTN Live! before heading back to our hotel. Overnight Irondale (B, L, D)
